Choosing to dance on pointe is a decision that should be taken seriously. Pointe work is hard work and very demanding. Dancers must be at least 11 years old with a minimum of 3 years of ballet training. They must also currently be studying ballet and have permission from their instructor. At a beginner level, students will have a half hour added to their regular ballet class to ensure the entire body, especially the feet and ankles, are properly warmed up.  Students will be taught the correct way to put on and lace pointe shoes.

Jazz dance features strong and sharp movements which are greatly aided by a solid background in ballet technique. Start with a thorough warm-up and stretching exercises.

As a class, learn and practice various floor progressions and dance combinations. Master progressively complex techniques with each level.

Begin with a warm-up to stretch the muscles of the legs and feet. Work on combinations that travel across the floor as well as front and center. The level of difficulty rises as the student becomes more advanced and proficient.  The goal in tap is to produce clear, clean sounds with various levels of tone.

The foundation of all forms of dance, ballet promotes proper body alignment, strength, balance and coordination. Start with warm-up exercises followed by barre work and across the floor combinations. Learn ballet terminology while speed and strength increase. The grace, beauty and discipline in ballet are carried on throughout each style of dance.

Ballet class is the study of body positions, awareness and alignment. It is a poised style of dance that incorporates the foundational techniques for many other dance forms and is highly suggested as a base to be taken before, and during, further dance training. In this class you will be guided through the fundamentals of ballet technique in a welcoming, lighthearted environment. We laugh and sweat our way through a classical ballet barre, gentle stretching, and build on progress with movement across the floor.

An ideal class for beginners, this class teaches students the rudimentary movements that are the foundation for modern dance to live musical accompaniment. Students will focus on contractions, spirals, basic floor work and elemental concepts of space, time and force.

An ideal way to express one’s creativeness, Hip Hop is a very energetic form of dancing. It is unique in that it allows its dancers to perform with freedom of movement, adding in their own personalities. The dancing represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music, and comes from the soul. With each class, dancers will learn new sequences and combinations and practice various techniques, steps and moves focusing on rhythm, clear and elaborate execution and musical interpretation.
